Mr Baggins’ owners bought him in to see me in January after they noticed he had started to drink a lot more in the few weeks beforehand. 

On examination, he looked very healthy but had lost 400g since his appointment only the month beforehand. 

We ran some blood and urine tests and found that Mr Baggins had very high blood and urine glucose levels, diagnosing him with diabetes. Thankfully for him, the rest of his blood and urine results were normal. 

This put him a perfect position to be able to be treated with a new diabetic medicine for cats: Senvelgo

Previously, cats with diabetes would have to have injections of insulin every 12 hours but this new treatment differs to traditional insulin and means Mr Baggins can have this liquid on his food just once a day – which his owners report he takes very well! 

His drinking and urinating habits can take a little longer to return to normal compared to insulin treatment but now Mr Baggins lives a very happy, content and needle-free life!
